| No school building, no matter how
well designed or how well constructed, can be considered a success unless it
truly meets both the current and long-term needs of the school district and
students. This is the reason more and more school districts are now turning
to professional educational facilities planners. It is also the reason why educational
facilities planning has become such a rapidly growing segment of our services.
With 75 years of school construction experience in building over 100 completed educational facilities, we have a highly experienced staff of professionals who assist school districts in the strategic and educational planning process. This staff of professionals includes research specialists and, perhaps unique among companies of our type, practicing educators as well. Unlike many planners in this field, this experience allows us to assure our clients that the strategic plans we help develop can be fully implemented, and meet the defined needs of our client school districts.
At the heart of our educational facilities planning is our philosophy of working in partnership with client designates to understand and document the district's current and long-range educational needs. We analyze past and present demographic data as well as future demographic projections. We provide a complete assessment of existing facilities, detailing any problems that impact educational programs. We look closely at curriculum, instruction and technology needs; grade alignment; community needs and issues; and other pertinent information. In short, we seek to create the most comprehensive picture possible of how well existing facilities are meeting educational requirements, what is needed to better meet those requirements, and what can be done to assure that those requirements will continue to be met. From this analysis, we then use all of our expertise to prepare several alternate solutions for the school district, listing the potential benefits and limits of each solution, as well as the cost and the ease of implementation. Any school construction project is a major investment that affects virtually everyone in a community in one way or another. The more thoughtful the planning behind that project, the more likely it will be endorsed by all those it impacts, and the more likely it will meet all of the project's objectives. We believe our expertise in educational facilities planning and our real-world school construction experience combine to give school districts a powerful partner for the strategic thinking necessary to successfully complete a school facilities development project.
