225 East Indiana Avenue Mr. Howard Friend,
Superintendent Board of Education RPC served as Construction Manager for the $15.4 million District wide program. This project was part of the second phase of the Ohio Schools Facilities Commission Projects. RPC is serving as Manager for the Northeastern District. There are three buildings in the district: the 31,000 square-foot Beatrice L. Miller Elementary, the 29,400 square-foot Frank A. Sebring Elementary, and the 68,327 square-foot McKinley Jr./Sr. High School. Based upon the Master Plan Summary the project called for the construction of a new high school at the existing McKinley High School site behind the present 1914 building. High school students continued to attend classes in the 1914 building until completion of the new academic wing. The existing 1955 building and gymnasium were retained and served as a core for the junior high school (grades 7-8) wing. The plan also called for the construction of new “shared use” spaces between the new high school wing and the retained junior high school wing. Shared spaces included such areas as gymnasium, resource center, cafeteria, and administration. In addition, the plans included the construction of a new K-6 elementary school at the existing Beatrice L. Miller Elementary School site. The existing building then becomes a Community Center. It is located in the center of the Community Park and has easy access to the playgrounds, outdoor swimming pool, etc. RPC provided the full range of services for the Preconstruction and Construction Phases.
